🎬 : “Worst Person In The World”
Platform : @thecharlesbaltimore & Select Theatres
Director : @nobledanceroslo - Joachim Trier
🍿: It’s giving ... anti hero , triggered but in a good way, visit Norway 🇳🇴, this old head often loveable occasionally aggravating , slice of life , subtle comic relief , rolling eyes but also crying , ACTING , main character syndrome .
🤓: Julie is messy. Yet, you can’t help but to root for her in hopes that she will one day become a little less messy. If we were honest we all have embodied Julie at one point or another — claiming adulthood while misidentifying avoidance behavior as one’s “right” to leave what no longer serves you.
Trier’s film transports you to the beautiful city of Oslo to experience twelve vignettes guiding us through the complicated , yet familiar story of our late 20 something protagonist . Julie attempts to discover who she is through love , boredom and curiosity. The intimate and compelling shots of Oslo , the uncomfortably realistic dialogue , absurd freeze frame scene , and a magic mushroom fiasco shows this artistic indie film is self aware enough to not take its self too seriously . We see the real and ugly sides of love sprinkled with the magic of a romance film expertly balanced .
I still can’t decide if Julie’s the worst person in the world. Perhaps, that’s the point.
