🍿: it’s giving masterpiece
🤓: Every once in a while you experience art that stops you in time . Makes you feel one with yourself , with the world , lifts you to other places. Tonight I experienced this watching BLACKALACHIA .
This film was a beautiful ode to nature , the power of music , and the epitome of free expression. This is one of the most beautiful pieces of art I’ve seen in a long time . Each song and set
took me to new levels .
It was also such an honor to be a part of a Q&A to hear Moses talk about his connection to the earth (western North Carolina to be exact), elements of catharsis and his journey as an artist in new territory.
All who were in attendance tonight felt the beauty of this film. There’s nothing like sharing physical space with others when experiencing art .
I usually have more words to say about something I love but this time , I have very few. I can’t write about how my spirit felt seen, how I wanted to cry, how I was cheering and rooting for this beautiful black man giving us his all - proud and unashamed. I can’t write about the feeling of experiencing something for the first time and wanting to transport all my loved ones there to experience it with me. Maybe for me seeing this film was an answer to some of the questions I’ve been asking myself lately . Maybe it was a reminder that as an artist you can make something profound … something groundbreaking.
The film can be found on YouTube but if you get a chance to watch it on the big screen
,do so.
I’ll remember this moment for a lifetime . Thank you @blackstarfest & @barnesfoundation for setting the stage to present something that I didn’t know I needed but am so grateful to have experienced.
