This doc will leave you rooting for those who fight hard for the things they love.

🎥💡🎵Tech and Specs : The cinematography is breathtaking , big, while still remaining intimate.

This film leaves you curious to not only explore the real Jamaica, but to explore untapped potential within yourself.

Bonus ✨ : The story and the camera really makes you feel like your in Jamaica. Some of the shots are just beautiful.

🍿: It’s giving... complex, thought-provoking , comedic, drama, slice of life , indie/arthouse film.

🤓: This film follows the lives of students and staff at a secondary school in Saint-Denis , a suburb outside of Paris. Simply put, this is a slice of life film following kids from the city and the hardships they deal with . However, it’s not cliche and it’s not trauma filled. On the contrary , it is quite beautiful and a lot more graceful than I expected. This isn’t a film that feels sorry for the kids. Instead, it shows the joy, sass, power, and normalcy of youth. Nothing is at its extremes in this film, and that’s what makes it beautiful. The writers have found way to explore real shit without making it trauma porn. Yay!

🎥💡🎵Tech and Specs: There are quite a bit of experimental shots that in some cases poignant, like the camera running along with the kids as they race to school . There are also others that seem artsy just to be artsy —- I.e. the party scene montage . You’ll either be into it for the mere sake that it’s something new or you’ll think that the director and editors were doing too much. Luckily these artistic choices don’t take away or distract from the overall beauty of the film and it’s story .

✨Bonus: This film follows a very diverse group of Parisians. It gave me a glimpse into cultural and subcultural groups in France that are not often represented holistically on the big screen or in the media. After the movie, I found myself looking more into Saint -Denis history, present day, and the community there.
